The president of Afghanistan has announced a ceasefire in its war with the Taliban, in respect of the Eid Al Adha holiday.
President, Ashraf Ghani said the four-day truce will commence on Monday, following violent clashes in Faryab – a northern province in Afghanistan.
Though the militant group sources have confirmed the ceasefire, according to Reuters, it’s still waiting on the approval from the group’s leader.
As we approach Eid-ul-Adha, and to respect the wishes of different segments of Afghan society including religious scholars, political parties, politicians, women and civil society leaders, youth and members of high peace council in all 34 provinces,
