Passengers of Air India Express bound to Kozhikode, Kerala were stranded at the Abu Dhabi International Airport for more than 16+ hours.

The Abu Dhabi-Kozhikode flight, IX348, that was scheduled to leave at 12.20am on Friday, finally left the airport at 4.50pm- a delay of 16.30 hours.

An Air India Express official told Khaleej Times that the flight delay was due to some progressive engineering issue and that it was “a very rare situation.”

One disgruntled passenger took to Twitter to voice his frustration

Even though the passengers were given refreshments and hotel accommodation at 5.30 am, they were asked to report back to the airport at 8am.

However, the struggle didn’t end there as the passengers were later told that the flight would be delayed further.

They were finally able to board the plane at 2.30pm but had to wait for more than two hours in the flight before it could take off at 4.50pm.

What a nightmare!
