German chancellor, Angela Merkel has forgone the rules of wearing hijab in Saudi Arabia during a state visit to Jeddah to meet the country’s ruler.
Merkel met with King of Saudi Arabia, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques this week in Jeddah to discuss international cooperations between the two countries.
The 62-year-old chose not to wear hijab – which women in Saudi are legally required to wear, and King Salman appeared unfazed.
