A 60-year-old British man will be imprisoned in Dubai for 10 years for smuggling 8kg of cocaine through Dubai Airport.
The man had landed at DXB in transit from Brazil to Guinea on May 11, when he was caught.
Customs officers checked the luggage which one officer said was ‘strangely thick’ according to The National – and upon investigation, found plastic cylinders stuffed with the narcotic.
The man said he was asked to deliver the cylinders to Guinea, by the Brazilian man, and said someone planted the drugs on him.
The British man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by deportation and a fine of AED50,000.
