Didi Chuxing, a major Chinese transportation service which supports 400 million users across China, has just become a major investor in Careem.
Following investment last week in Taxify, a soon to be launched London car sharing service, Didi’s global portfolio is continuously on the rise with shares in Lyft, an Uber rival in the states, Ola in India and Brazilian startup 99, which now has a value of over $100 million.
The value of the investment has yet to be disclosed, but judging from this tweet we’re guessing it’s substantial….
The gloves were never on between these rival car-sharing transport companies with both continuously striving to provide cheap, convenient services for residents in the UAE.
In a bid to lower prices, Uber launched Uber X and Careem followed with the launch of Careem GO the VERY next day.
Uber introduces Uber Eats? Careem launches BOX, a fetching service.
The battle continues….
So it’s got our vote….
Need another reason? ‘Cos their social media is always on point, and we loved when they brilliantly trolled UBER a little while ago
