An Extremely Powerful Cyclone Is Going To Hit Oman TOMORROW And The UAE Has Issued An Advisory For Its Citizens
A tropical storm in the Arabian Sea that reached cyclone strength and was named Cyclone Mekunu will hit the Arabian Peninsula this weekend.
After thrashing the Yemeni island of Socotra, where almost 17 people are feared dead, the cyclone is now expected to thrash near Salalah, Oman on early Saturday.
A state of emergency has since been declared in Yemen.
Winds and rain have picked up in Oman
Salalah International Airport has been shut down when strong winds and rains picked up on Thursday forcing many holiday goers to leave the country. The cyclone is expected to make a landfall near the Salalah region.

Meanwhile The Embassy of the UAE in Muscat has issued an advisory to its citizens in Oman.
“Citizens are urged to take precautions and stay away from all shoreline and valley areas. Remain alert for all changing weather conditions and follow the safety instructions pending the landfall of the cyclone. Register for the Tawajudi service and contact the embassy for all alerts.”

The storm will not reach the UAE
The National Centre of Meteorology, NCM has stated that while Cyclone Mekunu will not reach the UAE, its impact will be limited to dense clouds and rain in country’s eastern and southern regions.
