This Dubai Spot Is In The Running To Be Listed On The World Heritage List

The UNESCO World Heritage List is made up of areas of ‘outstanding importance, either cultural or natural, to the common heritage of humankind.’

Spots are nominated each year by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s International World Heritage program and currently the list includes 1,037 properties.

Now, Dubai Creek has been nominated as one of 30 sites for inclusion on the list

The UAE currently has one spot on the listing

The cultural site of Al Ain (Hafit, Hili, Bidaa Bint Saud and Oases Areas) – a property that proves human inhabitation in a desert region since the Neolithic period is the only UAE spot on the list so far.

The 42nd session of the World Heritage Committee meets in Bahrain

Dubai Creek currently sits on a tentative list along with 30 other sites, which means the UAE possibly submitted the Creek as it’s considered a natural heritage of outstanding value.

Making the World Heritage List would mean the Creek would be protected and preserved.
