A Dubai-based Pakistani man stood trial on Tuesday for kidnapping a woman by taking her to a remote desert area and sexually assaulting her in his car.
According to Khaleej Times, the incident happened on February 1 and was reported to the Al Rashidiyah police station.
The 29-year-old salesman from Pakistan had been drinking with the Belarusian woman, who works as a teacher, at a nightclub in the emirate.
Later that night, instead of dropping her home as promised, he took her to the remote area in the desert, forced himself on her and also threatened to hurt her.
He told her he would drop her to a construction site, where the workers would gang-rape her.
She haled a cab from the highway where the defendant left her. A 39-year-old Egyptian taxi driver eventually picked the teacher and took her to the police station.
As per the report, the driver told the prosecutor that she had a black eye and her clothes were torn. “She was screaming hysterically and wanted me to call the police. The man, who had just dropped her, fled the place when he heard her calling the police”, said he.
The defendant might face several years as jail time. The next hearing is on April 29.
