Dubai Police, along with the Human Rights Association, has launched a new campaign to raise awareness of the rights of workers in the country – and help reduce the incidence of human trafficking.
The “Treat Them Right” campaign was introduced in Al Etihad Mall on the weekend, and aims at raising awareness regarding human rights violations – especially human trafficking problems in the country.
The campaign mainly targets households to minimize the fleeing of housemaids.
Dubai Police stressed that campaigns like these play a big part in protecting the rights of house maids – who run away from unfortunate domestic situations and get caught in rings that force them to be part of crimes that violate human rights codes.
It is also set to be a year-long initiative with the participation of students from The Higher Colleges of Technology and Sharjah Women’s College, who distributed fliers on appropriate domestic conditions for housemaids.
