A number of Nigerian job applicants have taken to Twitter to voice their dismay over Dubai’s new alleged clause, where companies are excluding ‘Nigerians’ from applying for a number of job vacancies in the emirate after the arrest of fraudster Hushpuppi.
This news comes after a series of million-dollar cyber scams and fraud crimes surrounding Hushpuppi and his Nigerian compatriots had been brought to light by the Dubai Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, (FBI). The gang of cyber scammers who obtained large amounts of wealth through fraudulent means were recently extradited to the US after their arrest in Dubai.
Exposing this mega-scam has painted Nigeria in a bad light. Which has led to institutions and organisations around the world putting out discriminatory exclusions that are blatantly rejecting Nigerian job applications, in fear of being scammed.
