A clerk working at a police station in Dubai went on trial today. He has been accused of kidnapping and raping a woman.
The Moroccan woman was stopped by the 31-year-old Pakistani man, who pretended to be a CID officer, as she walked outside a restaurant in Al Rigga.
He drove her to a residential area where he parked outside a villa and raped her in the back seat of the car. He then dropped her to a taxi after stealing her watch, two mobile phones and AED 500 in cash.
The man stopped her saying he was an officer investigating a jewellery shop robbery carried out by women. She also said that he showed her pictures of women’s hands and took a picture of her hand for the same.
The incident was reported on 18 April to Al Raffa police station. A day later the accused was arrested based on the descriptions provided by the the lady.
The accused confessed to having sex with the woman against her will and pretending to be a cop. He also admitted that the vehicle he was driving belonged to the police.
The hearing has been adjourned to 22 September.
