Ramadan is almost here

KHDA says this change is all about keeping learning on track while making the month easier for both students and teachers. Parents and students can expect a lighter, more flexible daily routine that still covers all the essentials.

And as of Fridays, they got a lil easier. Private schools must end the day by 11:30 am so everyone can attend Friday prayers on time. That’s perfect for families who like to spend the afternoon together or just chill a bit before the weekend. Students and teachers get a head start on Friday plans, and everyone still gets their lessons in.

Fasting? PE is off the table

If you’re fasting, don’t stress about PE. KHDA confirmed that fasting students won’t have to participate in physical education classes this Ramadan. Schools will provide alternative activities, so no one misses out on learning. The goal is to keep everyone safe and healthy while respecting the challenges of fasting. So you can focus on your studies without worrying about pushing yourself too hard.

Your schedule, your choice

Many schools are sending out surveys to parents so they can pick start and finish times that suit their kids. This gives families a chance to customize their school days while keeping learning consistent. KHDA says it’s all part of building a stronger school–family partnership and making Ramadan schedules more flexible for everyone.

Why the change?

KHDA says these adjustments are designed to respect the nature of Ramadan while easing the load on students and teachers. Shorter days, lighter schedules, and alternative PE activities all aim to create a supportive environment that reflects health, social, and religious considerations in the UAE. Essentially, it’s about making school life during Ramadan safer, smarter, and a little less stressful for everyone involved.
