Dubai restaurant, Basta, in Renaissance Downtown Hotel has taken an unusual stance against the use of plastic straws, and is offering pasta ones instead. 

In what might be the weirdest solution to the campaign to end usage of plastic straws, the Italian restaurant today announced it would only be using straws made of pasta. 

Founder of the resto, David Myers said: “Being someone who loves spending time in the ocean, I witness the consequences of our overuse of single-use plastic first hand. I like to think that by stopping the use of plastic straws, we are making a small mark right here in the UAE.”

It follows the announcement by several restaurants in the UAE to get rid of plastic straws
