No one likes to be caught in traffic whether it’s in a cab, someone’s car or you’re the one driving. People are strategically running errands outside of rush hour times to avoid traffic jams but it doesn’t always work. RTA is always listening and is always trying to improve Dubai roads and that includes heavily congested areas.
Whether it’s adding more lanes or building new bridges, RTA is always working on projects to improve traffic flow and Al Khail road is being worked on next!
Al Khail Road is huge and runs through major locations in Dubai and that’s why RTA are working on improving it. The project encompasses the construction of bridges and the expansion of lanes across 7 locations along Al Khail Road including Zabeel, Meydan, Al Quoz 1, Ghadeer Al Tair, and Jumeirah Village Circle.

Here’s what’s going to change to be exact:
Zabeel: A 3-lane bridge spanning 700m will be built, linking traffic from Zabeel Palace Street and Oud Metha Road directly onto Al Khail Road in the direction of Abu Dhabi. In addition to improvements of surface roads on Al Khail Road heading to Financial Centre Street in the direction of Sheikh Zayed Road.
Meydan: A 2-lane bridge will be built, extending 610m and accommodating 3,200 vehicles per hour and linking traffic from Al Meydan Road onto Al Khail Road in the direction of Deira.
Al Quoz 1: A 2-lane bridge stretching 650m and accommodating 3,200 vehicles per hour will be built to link the traffic from Al Meydan Road onto Al Khail Road in the direction of Abu Dhabi. Improvements will also be made to link the traffic from Al Khail Road to Al Waha Street and Latifa bint Hamdan Street.
Ghadeer Al Tair: A 2-lane bridge will be built, exntending 640m with a capacity of 3,200 vehicles per hour will link the traffic from Latifa Bint Hamdan Street onto Al Khail Road in the direction of Deira.
Jumeirah Village Circle:A 2-lane bridge spanning 700m and a capacity of 3,200 vehicles will be built to cater to traffic coming from Al Khail Road to Hessa Street.
Al Jaddaf: More lanes wil be added on Al Khail Road in Al Jaddaf in the direction of Deira.
Business Bay: The project also will add new lanes on Al Khail Road at the entrance to Business Bay.
