Dubai’s second airport, Al Maktoum International has been rapidly expanding, however the expansion plans are temporarily on hold, according to reports.
The airport, DWC, is aiming to become one of the world’s biggest airports upon completion of its US$36 billion extension – according to a report on Reuters.
Delays were also announced last year to DWC’s upgrade – which aims to see the airport handle more than 26 million passengers per year.

Following the closure of one of Dubai International Airport (DXB)’s runways, next year – additional FlyDubai flights will operate out of DWC.
There are nearly 30 destinations that will relocate for FlyDubai from DXB to DWC from April 16, 2019.
