Today marks the discovery of one of the world’s oldest ship that still exists!

Today, the ship is being preserved at the Giza Solar boat museum, not too far from where it was first discovered many years back.

The ship is said to date back to more than 4,000 years ago, and was built for Egypt’s second pharaoh in the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Egypt.

How the ship was restored

Over 1,200 pieces from the vessel were restored carefully by a professional restorer from the Egyptian Department of Antiquities, according to Google. Haj Ahmed Youssef oversaw the restoration and used his expertise by studying models found in ancient tombs.

It took a decade to restore the 143-feet long shop- WITHOUT the use of a single nail.
