Emirates ID Cards Are Updating And They Will Have A MUCH More Important Use Next Year

Avatar

You can wave goodbye to your insurance card at the end of this year.

A senior Government official has confirmed that by next year all insurance companies will have to link with your Emirates ID cards via a central database…so you will basically be carrying two cards in one.

“No one will need to carry their insurance cards then. The moment the provider swipes the card, there will be a screen showing all the details about the card and services.”

Dr Haidar Al Yousuf, director of Health Funding at the Dubai Health Authority

A logical move…

All employers are required to provide medical insurance for their employees (since a new Dubai Health Insurance Law No 11 of 2013 came into effect in January 2014), and all employees are required to have a valid Emirates ID… combining the two just makes sense.

And that’s not the only use your ID has (it’s also a time saver)…

Emirates Identity Cards can double up as E-gate cards at terminal three’s arrival section.
