Emirati Businessman Writes An Open Letter To Trump Offering To Help Rebuild Gaza

Emirati businessman Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, the founder and chairman of Al Habtoor Group, has written an open letter to the US President, Donald Trump, offering the UAE’s support and expertise to help rebuild Gaza.

In the letter, Habtoor described Trump’s presence in the Gaza peace talks held in Egypt as “a pivotal step aimed at implementing the terms of the historic peace agreement.” He praised the ongoing efforts and also stated that peace can only be achieved through a collective, conscious, and responsible will.

Doing his part, Al Habtoor shared his vision for Gaza’s reconstruction — one rooted in the UAE’s proven expertise and ability to build with efficiency and transparency

Drawing from decades of experience in global construction, Al Habtoor along with his team of engineers and economists, laid out a comprehensive three-phase plan to rebuild Gaza. From immediate relief to long-term sustainability, he truly hopes to restore life and stability for the people of Palestine.

A three-phase plan to rebuild Gaza

  • Phase 1: Basic needs first!
With an integrated engineering framework in mind, he recommended prefabricated housing to provide immediate shelter to displaced families, while simultaneously laying the groundwork for a modern, sustainable city. Habtoor suggests it’d take 0-6 months to clear out the site and setup temporary houses with essential utilities. Another 36 months for proper construction of 150,000 housing units with modern infrastructure.
  • Phase 2: Revival of the economy.
Creation of industrial zones, commercial centers, job creation aimed at promoting self-sufficiency for the people of Gaza.
  • Phase 3: Transparent governance.
Building Gaza from the ground up requires a system that’s efficient and transparent. A system ensuring that resources are allocated fairly and free from corruption, so that reconstruction serves “the people, not competing agendas.”

“What Gaza needs today is a project for life”

Al Habtoor emphasized that the UAE’s legacy of development and generosity stands as proof of its readiness to take action.

“…that we, as Arabs, are not mere spectators in the making of peace but active partners in establishing its foundations and building its pillars”

He also praised the unity of Arab nations seen at the recent Sharm El-Sheikh discussions. Ending his letter, Al Habtoor called for action over words:

“What Gaza needs today is a project for life, not slogans, and a will to act, not speeches. We believe that building is the noblest form of peace.”

The proposal, ready for implementation, offers a tangible roadmap for hope, development, and a fresh start for Gaza.
