Late last year, a call out for astronauts went out in the UAE and the response was huge.
To join you needed to be Emirati and between 17 and 67-years-old.
Since then, The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has received 4,022 applications, 34% of which are female, all hoping to be part of the UAE Astronaut Programme.
Candidates selected will be required to pass a basic medical and psychometric test, an initial interview, an advanced medical and psychometric test and a panel interview, according to the report.
Training modules will be conducted in the UAE along with a visit to the global Astronaut Training Centres and the International Space Station (ISS).
The training strategy is in line with the Mars 2117 plan.
