Darn it!

One of the most anticipated games for this year’s Rugby World Cup, the England v France has been called off due to Typhoon Hagibis.

The storm is predicted to be moving fast, and is likely to be the biggest typhoon of 2019- causing a disruption in Tokyo, Yokohama and the City of Toyota through Saturday.

So the World Rugby and the Japan Rugby 2019 Organising Committee announced the update on Thursday.

The two teams will result in a draw- as discussed by the two committees

Both teams will also progress to the quarter finals by default.

The following matches will (tentatively) still take place as scheduled:

  • Friday, 11 October – Pool D match between Australia and Georgia in Shizuoka at 19:15 JST
  • Saturday, 12 October – Pool A match between Ireland and Samoa in Fukuoka at 19:45 JST
  • Sunday, 13 October – Will be played as scheduled, however; a thorough assessment of venues will take place after the typhoon has passed before a final decision is made on Sunday morning.
