Etisalat and Du have decided to discontinue their pay-per-use data plan service after Telecommunication Regulatory Authority’s decision so that customers don’t have to pay excessive charges now and then, according to local news.
However, you can still exclusively request for the service, and it will be granted to you. UAE’s Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) took it to Twitter to announce that they will be discontinuing the ‘Pay-per-use data’ service because customers usually forget to unsubscribe from the service and end up getting charged extra by the operator.
Etisalat and du both offer this service, it is easy to use all you have to do is dial a certain number and subscribe to pay by the minute offer, this way you get data on demand. The problem with this, though is that many people often forget to unsubscribe. So to save people from getting overcharged, TRA has advised Etisalat and du to discontinue their services.
Etisalat has already sent a text message to its users that states, ‘Great news! No more bill shocks on data! To prevent unexpected charges, pay-as-you-go data has been blocked from 1st July 2019. For on-demand mobile internet, please dial *800# and use Play on Demand for only 5 fils/min,’ according to local news.
