In 2023, Dubai is not just about leisure and lifestyle events; it’s also hosting COP28, a global spectacle focused on tackling climate change. COP28, or the 28th session of the UNFCCC’s Conference of the Parties, is a critical moment for transformative climate action worldwide. This summit is primarily for stakeholders and world leaders, but remember, we’re all equally responsible in the fight against climate change.
COP28 will be hosted in Expo City, Dubai, from Thursday, November 30, to Tuesday, December 12. The UAE takes the helm this year, seeking to unite the world and find ambitious solutions to the most pressing global challenge. They’ll assume the presidency for two years, then pass it to the next hosting party.
COP28 is part of an ongoing effort to combat climate change. As we reach the halfway point between the Paris Agreement and 2030, the focus is clear: reduce emissions by 43%, adapt, finance climate action, and address loss and damage.
This event is where world leaders from 199 parties (198 states plus the European Union) come together to collaborate on climate solutions.

The event is divided into two main zones: The Blue and Green Zones.
The Blue Zone is reserved for accredited participants, including COP parties and world leaders, where formal negotiations will occur. This is where you’ll find the World Climate Action Summit, country pavilions, panel discussions, round tables, and cultural events.
Open to the public, the Green Zone welcomes delegates, private and public sector representatives, NGOs, and everyone interested.
Here, you’ll find the sponsor and stakeholder hub, sharing insights on decarbonization, technology, innovation, and summit knowledge.
Curated content like conferences, panels, and entertainment will take place here. Additionally, the youth hub and Emirati culture exhibits will focus on community engagement.
COP28 is a prime opportunity to realign with the Paris Agreement’s goals. The world agreed in 2015 to limit global warming to 1.5°C by 2050, which requires halving emissions by 2030. We have just seven years to achieve this crucial goal.
Expect discussions on:
COP28 aims to define success by halting biodiversity loss, restoring agricultural land, preserving forests, protecting coastlines, ensuring food security, and safeguarding livelihoods worldwide.
From November 30 to December 12, 2023, Expo City Dubai becomes the epicenter of global climate action. COP28 responds to the facts, striving to reduce emissions by 43% by 2030 and chart a course for adaptation, finance, and addressing loss and damage.
