October 6 marked the first day of the GITEX Technology Week which is taking place in the Dubai World Trade Centre. Gitex is a world-class technology event where a number of innovative technological projects are unveiled and announced.
Earlier on Sunday, during the GITEX tech show the Dubai Transport Corporation (DTC) and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced a new service where Dubai residents will now be able to rent personal drivers to drive their cars around the Emirate.
They can access this service through a free-to-download ‘DTC’ app which will be launched by the end of October. The drivers can be hired for AED40 per hour making it a minimum charge of AED80 for two hours.
This service can prove to be useful in emergencies when you feel too tired to drive yourself to your destination
In the situation where residents are too tired to drive themselves around or in the event that the family driver is on leave or away, this service could be used to commute around the city safe and stress-free.
GITEX Technology Week is taking place at the DWTC from 6-10 October
