A grandmother in Dubai is on trial for assaulting a police officer and biting his hand, besides damaging property.

The 55-year-old woman was paying a visit to Rashidiya Police Station outside the designated visiting hours to see her detained daughter.

A policeman who barred the door she was trying to push open with his arm informed her that this wasn’t possible at the current time, reports Khaleej Times.

The woman then bit his hand, resisted arrested and knocked him into a glass table

She has been was fined AED10,000 by the Court of First Instance, after which the public prosecution moved the case to the Dubai Court of Appeal on the grounds that the first penalty was too lenient.

The woman faces one year of jail and a AED 50,000 fine if found guilty.
