Police are at the Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong amid reports of an attempted hijacking.

The area was sectioned off, airport activity ceased and new reports suggest the hijacker has been taken into custody and the situation is under now under control.

The Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight was en route to Dubai from Dhaka via Chittagong when a gunman stormed the cockpit, according to reports.

All 142 passengers have been evacuated safely.
