The food chain industry is in shock following the part bankruptcy of Jamie Oliver’s UK restaurant chain.
22 restaurants across the UK have shut in a dramatic blow to the celebrity chef, who confirmed the news via Twitter and Instagram stating that he is ‘deeply saddened by the outcome’.
Following the launch in 2008, the popular pizzeria chain Jamie’s Pizza quickly sprung up across the UK, with a further 61 outlets appearing overseas, however according to reports not all restaurants are affected.
Competition on the UK high street, Brexit and rising costs have been attributed to the shock closures, in which 10,000 jobs have been lost.
Jamie’s Italians and Jamie’s Pizzeria concepts abroad are not affected, according to The Guardian, which means the JLT branch which opened in April 2018, is expected to remain open.
