The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) is enforcing new rules for teachers as part of a plan to improve teaching standards, which will affect the 21,000 teachers currently working in Dubai.
To obtain a teacher ‘permit’; all school teachers will need to provide a good conduct certificate from the country they previously worked in.
The KHDA will provide teaching permits to teachers once all requirements are met, according to reports from the International and Private Schools Education Forum (Ipsef) Middle East 2018 on Saturday.
The cert will prove the teacher is competent to teach and suitable to work in a school environment. You can learn more about it here.
Dr Naji Al Mahdi, chief of qualifications and awards for the KHDA said teachers will need to provide a certificate of good conduct from the previous country the worked in (and possibly their home country).
He said it will be an ongoing process, not a one-off, and therefore existing teachers may also be asked to provide the cert.
All teachers will be required to have a teaching permit by 2021.
