In a bid to bring the Syrian government back into the Arab fold and restore relations between the two friendly countries, the UAE has reopened its embassy in Damascus, according to WAM.
Syria was suspended from the Arab League back in 2011 during the time of the conflict, but almost seven years later UAE raised its flag in Damascus again during a ceremony on Thursday.
The UAE is keen to “restore relations between the two brotherly countries to their normal course, thus enhancing and implementing the Arab role in supporting the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic”.
The decision aims to establish peace, security and stability throughout Syria and to restore relations with the country.
In fact US president Donald Trump even claimed that the neighbouring country of Saudi Arabia has also agreed to spend the money needed to help rebuild Syria.
