Asking for directions has resulted in the next ten years in prison for a passenger at Dubai Airport.
The Indian man who arrived at Dubai International Airport from India asked a customs official where the exit was. Seeing the passenger extremely tensed, the 19-year-old Emirati inspector asked him for his passport.
The man refused to hand it over to the inspector and so was asked to wait till his luggage was inspected. Nothing was found on the man or in his luggage. But then… the inspector noticed the bottom of the bag was unusually thick. When he cut open the bottom he found 1.9kg of marijuana.
The 24-year-old passenger has been sentenced to ten years in jail followed by deportation. He’s also been slapped with an AED 50,000 fine.
