A 15 metre long, 32 tonne whale has been found dead just off the coast of Fujairah. The exact species of the whale is yet to be confirmed.

Fujairah Port Authority alerted the Municipality to the incident, authorities then towed the animal ashore in a controlled manner. 

A foul smell alerted authorities to the presence of the whale, which had been dead for at least a couple of days before the body was found.

It is assumed the mammal had been brought here by strong sea currents, the cause of death is yet unknown.

The carcass will be put on display

According to a report via Gulf News, care is being taken with the carcass and the bones will eventually be put on display to educate children about sea life.
