On July 1 of this year, a series of new road laws were implemented, and already there are signs of improved awareness on Dubai roads.
According to a report from the National, traffic fines dropped by an impressive 37% in the first week since the rules were implemented; as approximately 60,000 fines were issued in the first week of July this year in comparison with nearly 95,000 fines in the first week of July last year.
There has also been a significant decrease in the number of deaths on Dubai roads so far this year, with a 26%  drop in recorded deaths since January.
– Not driving within the correct lane
– Parking in an incorrect way
– Driving with passengers or drivers not wearing seat belts
– Not leaving a safe distance between vehicles when driving
– Swerving suddenly
– Tailgating or blocking traffic in any way
These are according to a report from the National via comments from Maj Gen Mohammed Al Zafeen, chairman of the Federal Traffic Council and assistant commander-in-chief of Dubai Police who said the most recent figures as stated above were promising.Â
