Earlier tourists were expected to pay 20 riyals (AED190) for a tourist visa whether they stayed for five days or a month.

This move aims to boost the tourism sector as Oman plans on diversifying its economy and increase investment in the sector.

Tourism in Oman increased by almost 5% in 2017 according to the stats published by the Ministry of Tourism.

Another addition to the visa fees in Oman is the fee for visa transfer application which costs 50 riyals (AED477) and is non-refundable.
