A Important Change To The Passport Renewal System For Filipinos Has Been Announced

Filipinos take note, a change in the passport renewal system has been announced by The Philippines’ Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The update was announced after a breach in data, where the previous outsourced Filipino passport maker did not return data to the government after their contract was terminated, according to The Filipino Times.

The Philippines’ Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed the new regulations. Note, you DO NOT need your birth cert for regular passport renewals, however scroll for a list that will require you to present a birth cert

The following applicants will need to bring their birth certs

  1. First-time passport applications;
  2. Renewal applications for lost and mutilated passports;
  3. Renewal applications requiring changes in the passport entries;
  4. Renewal applications of old brown and green passports bearing no complete middle name;
  5. Applicants included in the Department’s Watchlist
