The UAE’s General Prosecutor, Hamad Saif Al-Shamsi has warned residents against posting anything sympathetic to Qatar as it may land them in jail.

Al-Shamsi warned that posts sympathising with Qatar would be treated as cybercrimes and could land users with an AED500,000 fine and up to 15 years imprisonment.

The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt cut ties with Qatar due to its relationship with Iran, as well as accusations of it supporting terrorism.
