Private Hospitals Have Been Given A Stern Warning And Six Month Deadline To Improve Facilities

Private hospitals have been given a six month deadline to improve facilities for people with determination.

This is part of a wider aim to empower people with determination as per a directive from HH Sheikh Mohammed, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who in the same order announced that people with special needs should now be referred to as “the determined ones”.

Failure of hospitals to improve to the expected standards will result in disciplinary action.

Facilities have six months to formulate an improvement plan

The design and layout of buildings may need to be altered to allow safe access for those who require it. Buildings will now need ramps for wheelchairs and the correct toilet access and transport facilities according to a report from Khaleej Times.

Heath care facilities have six months (until December 31) to submit proof of the action the establishment is planning to take according to the release from the Dubai Health Authority, (DHA) earlier this week.

“The authority is going to tie the issuing and renewing of licences of private health facilities with meeting the requirements and criteria of disability-friendly facilities,”

Marwan Al Mulla, director of the regulations department, Dubai Health Authority (DHA)
