A woman who left her job as a maid for an attractive higher paying job was almost forced into prostitution.

An Ethiopian maid was persuaded by a fellow maid to leave her legal work, according to reports from the Dubai Criminal Court, under the assumption she could earn up to AED 3,000 a day.

The women were both brought to an Al Karama apartment by two Bangladeshi men where she was given ‘short and indecent clothes’ to wear, according to the reports.

The woman refused the outfits after realising she would be put so sale to prospective customers via Whats App, the online messaging service.

The men then offered the woman AED 3,500 per day for prostitution services.

The woman refused the men and requested she be returned to her former job. Dubai Police, acting on a tip off, contacted and met the men, under the guise of customers.

The men quickly realised it was a police officer in disguise and tried to flee. Two men were put under arrest while one escaped.

One of the men admitted to distributing fake massage cards for a salary of AED 90 per day, according to reports.

On further investigation, contraceptives and receipts were found among the mens belongings.

The men deny charges of human trafficking and facilitating prostitution, the court case continues on October 8.
