American singer R Kelly’s supposed trip to Dubai for five ‘scheduled performances’ has been shelved for now, according to The National.

Four days ago, news of the 52-year-old’s attempt to come to the UAE broke out. He had requested permission from the United States authorities to visit, for three shows at UAE venues from April 17 to April 19, reportedly.

However, the R&B singer’s lawyer had requested from a judge for more time to give detail on the supposed concerts in the UAE.

Currently, he has been forced to concede his passport and reportedly needs financial income from these performances to fund essential and legal expenses.

R Kelly has pleaded not guilty, with the next court date scheduled for May 7.

A documentary shedding light on R.Kelly went viral this year

Much of the singer’s sexual misconduct came to light after a documentary, ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ detailing sex abuse allegations was released in January. The singer was subsequently arrested, although no formal charges have been made.

Court proceedings continue on March 22, where Kelly faces ten counts of criminal sex abuse.

R.Kelly was bonded out of jail by his family who paid $160,000 in back child support and the singer is reportedly struggling to support his legal expenses.
