Footballer Franck Ribéry has been fined by his club after he posted a foul-mouthed rant online this week.
The French footballer, who plays for Bayern Munich FC initially caused controversy when he posted a video of himself enjoying a gold-flaked Tomahawk steak at Salt Bae’s Dubai restaurant Nusr-Et.
Angered netizens labelled the video extravagant and he hit back, cursing at his haters, telling them they weren’t even pebbles in his shoes.
“I achieved my success thanks to god, and my efforts and those close to me who believed in me, as for the others, you’re not even pebbles in my socks”. (The rest is NSFW)
The exact sum hasn’t been revealed, but the club’s director stated it’s a ‘heavy’ fine.
The club stated Ribéry used language inappropriate for a player and as a role model.
“As part of an advertising campaign, Ribéry had been invited to try a steak in a restaurant during his holiday in Dubai. Afterwards, it was falsely claimed that he had paid 1,200 euros for the steak, whereupon he and his family were “savagely attacked” on social media. Ribéry then publicly “stood up for his family and fought back”, but in a manner not approved of by FC Bayern.”
