RTA just dropped a major transport update, and Dubai is about to move underground in a big way.
The first phase will roll out a 6.4km pilot route with four stations, directly linking DIFC, Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa.
The goal? Smoother commutes, better first- and last-mile connectivity, and the ability to move over 13,000 passengers every single day.

This is only the beginning.
Once expanded, the Dubai Loop will stretch up to 22.2km with 19 stations, connecting Dubai World Trade Centre, the financial district and Business Bay. What makes it stand out is the tech behind it… 3.6-metre-wide tunnels built using advanced tunnelling methods that are faster, more efficient and far cheaper than traditional metro tunnels.
The first phase is slated for completion within two years, backed by an initial investment of around Dh565 million, with the full project estimated at Dh2 billion.
Announced less than a year ago and already moving into construction, the Dubai Loop is another reminder that when Dubai shares big ideas on global stages, it actually delivers… and this time, the future is happening underground!
