Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the UAE and the visit was highly publicised.
As part of a two-day state visit to the UAE where he discussed India’s economic trajectory, domestic and foreign sourcing, he was also honoured with the UAE’s highest civilian honour, the ‘Order of Zayed’ and announced a new credit card, RuPay.
RuPay has been immediately made available in 21 businesses and 5,000 ATMs across the country.

It’s the Indian equivalent to Visa and MasterCard and the UAE is the first country outside of India to accept the mode of payment.
Prominent UAE banks will soon start issuing RuPay cards.
The news is welcomed by those who hold the card as its a safe, secure and cost-effective transaction method, and with a growing number of locations globally are accepting RuPay.
Created for Indian users, sellers and banks, #RuPay cards are now accepted in 195 countries across the globe. #OneLifeOneRuPay #IndiaIndependenceDay pic.twitter.com/jZx6ccEjdS

In UAE, there would be comprehensive talks with His Highness the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Crown Prince and I would be releasing a stamp to mark Bapu’s 150th Jayanti. The RuPay card will also be launched, which would help many.

Humbled to be conferred the ‘Order of Zayed’ a short while ago. More than an individual, this award is for India’s cultural ethos and is dedicated to 130 crore Indians.
I thank the UAE Government for this honour. pic.twitter.com/PWqIEnU1La
