School Children Will Carry Identification Cards To Prevent Further Human Tragedy

Following the tragic death of a four-year-old girl who died from heat exhaustion after being trapped inside a school bus, a joint committee from the Ministry of Education and Emirates Transport are adopting a smart system for students’ safety on all school buses in Dubai and the northern areas.

Three advanced devices will be used to combat human error

1) A student’s identification card will be used to ensure parents can track their children while on the bus.

2) A second device will ensure each bus is empty at the end of a journey.

3) A third device will detect motion on a bus after it is closed. This one will emit loud alert sounds, as well as instructions for students left behind in the bus.

With the new technology, students can be tracked while they on the bus

Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Hammadi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education noted the initiative would help provide the technological methods to enable the operation centres to track school buses and confirm their compliance with the rules and legislations, according to Wam.ae.

Between August and October of this year, 2,345 devices will be installed according to the report.

Full implementation will start in November, it will service the 100,000 students  in 383 government schools in Dubai and the northern areas.
