Belt Up: Over 37,000 People Have Already Been Fined For Failing To Use Seat Belts In 2017

Avatar

Already this year, over 37,000 people have been fined for not fastening up, and we’re only eight months in.

This is in comparison with just over 42,000 fines throughout 2016, according to a report from Gulf News.

The fine for not wearing a seatbelt will set you back AED 400. For so many reasons, it’s just not worth it.

Two updated seat belt laws came into force on July 1

As part of the new traffic rules, children under 10 years or shorter than 145 cm are prohibited from sitting in the front seat, while all passengers must wear seatbelts.

The fine for violating either rule is AED 400
