Construction Of The Sky Bridge Is Complete And It’s Instantly An Iconic New Downtown Landmark

Build a bridge and get over Downtown Dubai? It looks like that’s what Emaar have just done, or over part of DT anyway.

A huge ‘Sky Bridge’ linking the Address Sky View hotel and the Address Residences Sky View in Downtown will feature duplexes and a 70 metre infinity pool overlooking the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountains.

At 85 metres long and 22 metres high, this will be a new landmark feature in Downtown, and with a view overlooking the fountains, there’s no doubt it will become a major tourist attraction.

4,500 tonnes of steel, 365 days and 300 professional workers were needed to build the bridge

Temperatures in the city had to be considered throughout the construction, to ensure the bridge would suit the region’s climate.

The bridge was divided into five parts, each weighing 400 tonnes and the centre mass of steel which weighs over 1,500 tonnes.

Hydraulic jacks imported from Switzerland, laser technology and high capacity cranes were all needed for the build.

Technical precision was required for the lifting of the bridge, when the team faced winds of over 80km/h.

“Building and lifting the Sky Bridge is the result of the hard work and collaboration of some of the best international experts in the field, who addressed various challenges through their innovative and creative approach,”

Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of Emaar Properties.
