A woman has filed a lawsuit against a man who allegedly posted over 20 videos and recordings defaming her character and undermining her reputation.
The Emirati woman was a candidate for the FNC, a Federal National Council which is the federal authority of the United Arab Emirates formed to represent the general Emirati people, and she has a huge social media following.
Her lawyers requested the maximum sentence for the accused, while explaining the Arab man had publicly challenged and insulted the woman through a barrage of messages via the social media app Snapchat, which undermined her reputation and embarrassed her, according to a report via the Khaleej Times.Â
In the interim, the woman has asked for AED 21,000 in compensation.
According to reports, the woman has over 500,000 followers on social media and the insulting messages were damaging to her respected reputation.Â
The accused will share his defense at a later hearing
