New Stats Show The UAE Is Tackling Human Trafficking Head-On

The UAE authorities have apprehended more than 100 criminals guilty of human trafficking, according to new statistics. 

Authorities arrested 106 people, three of which have been imprisoned for life. 

The report – 2016 Annual Report of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking – revealed an increase of cases in 2016, up 25 cases, from 17 in 2015. 

The report also showed that 34 victims were involved in the cases last year. 

Additional resources are being dedicated to the issues. 

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, HE Dr. Anwar Mohammad Gargash said relevant authorities are receiving additional training to combat the issue.
