Lebanese intelligence officials helped stop a terror plot in its tracks, according to Lebanon’s interior minister.
In a press conference on Monday, Nohad Al Mashnouk said intelligence obtained by Lebanese authorities uncovered the plan that was set to take place on a flight from Australia to Abu Dhabi on an Emirati carrier.
Reports state that four Lebanese-Australian brothers were arrested in regards to the crime, one known as Tarek Khayyat.
It’s believed the four planned to detonate an explosive 20 minutes after the flight departed, however the explosives did not make it onto the plane.
Mashnouk is quoted on Sky News saying:
“When four Lebanese brothers in Australia decide to blow up an Emirati jet this means that the whole world should work together to fight terrorism.
“Coordination should be 24 hours a day between all security agencies to stop such attacks.”
