The Amazon Rainforest Is On Fire And The Outpour Of Support From People In Dubai Is Encouraging

The lungs of the planet have been burning for more than three entire weeks now and the media coverage for this crisis is just NOT ENOUGH!

The Amazon rainforest is responsible for generating 20% of the world’s oxygen, so this tragic forest fire has RAPIDLY accelerated the rate of global warming.

Environmentalists and conservationists have accused the Brazilian government and President, Jair Bolsonaro who took office in January 2019 for overlooking environmental programmes and completely prioritising economic sectors.

Dubai residents have gone all out in posting and sharing visuals of the fires raging through the Amazon rainforest and are trending the hashtag ‘#SaveTheAmazon’.

People all over the world are attempting to shine a light on the importance of this crisis and how serious action needs to be taken immediately

The major factors that came to play in the Amazon fires are deforestation and cattle ranching – where areas the size of football fields have been WIPED out to make way for farming, agriculture and ranching.

Activists have stated that such anti-environmental and tree-clearing activities have been encouraged by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

It’s important to understand that the Amazon is a VITAL part of the eco-system as it helps in regulating global warming by absorbing tonnes of carbon emissions every single year.

Think of the Amazon rainforest as an oxygen mask for the habitats of Earth.

The Brazilian space agency data suggest that Brazil has seen an all-time high in the number of fires in 2019. When compared to the same time last year in 2018, data suggests that forest fires have increased by 85%.

Residents have shown their irritation about the media giving more coverage to the burning down of the Notre-Dame Cathédrale over the Amazon’s raging fires that have been ongoing for more than three weeks now.

The Amazon is home to three million species of plants and animals and more than one MILLION native Amazonians.

The smoke from the Amazon fires have caused a blackout in São Paulo & giant plumes can be seen from space.

The burning forests of Brazil have darkened the skies of Sao Paulo which is located more than 1700 miles away from the rainforest.

Netizens have shared visuals of how the smoke has completely covered the daylight and plunged the city into darkness.
