In an official statement, the Presidential Court shared that the Moon Sighting Committee, under the UAE Council for Fatwa, confirmed the sighting of the Ramadan crescent.
Which means, no more “is it tomorrow?” group chat debates.
It’s locked in. Wednesday, February 18, is Day 1.
On the blessed occasion, heartfelt congratulations were extended by the UAE leaders including Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

If you were on Instagram earlier, you probably had a feeling it was coming.
Ahead of the official confirmation, Dubai’s Crown Prince Hamdan shared a Ramadan Mubarak post, and honestly, that was enough for most people to start planning Suhoor menus.
Fazza also shared a heartfelt message and people were already out there announcing that Ramadan’s coming soon.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the holiest time of the year.
It commemorates the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him), with Laylat Al Qadr observed during the final ten nights.
The month lasts either 29 or 30 days, depending on the next crescent sighting. Astronomical forecasts suggest Ramadan 2026 is likely to be 29 days, but as always, we wait for official confirmation closer to the end.
Looking ahead, Eid Al Fitr is expected to begin on Friday, March 20, according to astronomical predictions. Just like the start of Ramadan, the exact date will depend on the Shawwal crescent sighting.
Eid morning prayers, family visits, charity, gatherings and nationwide celebrations will follow.
For now, Dubai is officially in Ramadan mode. Slower mornings, busier nights, full Iftar tables and that unmatched sense of togetherness.
Ramadan Mubarak, Dubai!
