The UEFA Player Of The Year Nominees Are Out And Dubai Twitter Is Not Happy

The nominees are out for the most prestigious award of the year in the football world, UEFA Men’s Player of the Year.

The players that are up for this award are, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Van Dijk.

It’s been a reasonably good season for all three players (hence the nominations DUH!) 

The Champions League winner, Van Dijk led his team to the sixth Champions League title which has also made him a potential nominee for the 2019 Ballon d’Or along side Messi.

His achievements include PFA Players’ Player of the Year, UEFA Champions League winner, UEFA Nations League runner up, English Premier League runner up.

Messi is known for his ‘Messi Magic’, he has been the top goal scorer for Champions League in the previous season and holds the record for most goals in La Liga.

So far the Barcelona superstar has won the Spanish Liga, Spanish Super Cup and is the European Golden Shoe winner.

Ronaldo who now plays for Juventus directed Portugal to the UEFA Nations League title and won the Italian Super Cup along with Serie A.

Plenty of Dubai twitter users are not necessarily happy about Ronaldo’s inclusion in the list

And that’s mainly because Juventus didn’t even make it to the semi-finals

Some fans think that players more deserving than Ronaldo should’ve been included

Just straight up

However, some fans are thrilled with Ronaldo’s nomination

And are showing their support

The winner will be announced on August 29, 2019, at the Champions League draw ceremony.
