A street in Turkey has been renamed following a public fall out between a UAE minister and Turkey’s president.
HH Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, reportedly shared a tweet criticising Fahreddin Pasha, a 20th Century Ottoman military commander and his mis-treatment Arab people at the time, according to international reports.
Turkey’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has now hit back by renaming the street where the UAE embassy is located in Ankara.
Last month’s retweet by UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan angered Erdogan, who defended Fahreddin Pasha, the governor of Medina between 1916 and 1919, and accused the UAE minister of being spoilt by “oil and money.”
